Fresh Tracks

Wild Space Dance Company
February 25-27, 2016

Make fresh tracks with Wild Space in an evening of unexpected twists and turns! Step inside the cavernous Kenilworth 620, where the exposed struts and massive I-beams form an industrial backdrop for organized chaos. Migrate among three areas to witness new work revealing the illusions in everyday life by Artistic Director Debra Loewen and company members Mauriah Kraker, Monica Rodero, Dan Schuchart and Kelly Radermacher Butts, with live music by composer Tim Russell. Create your own experience as mystery guests and four-legged surprises fill the night!

Mapping Migration of Gesture

Created by Maria Gillespie, Nguyễn Nguyen, and Erik Speth
INOVA Gallery
March 5-8, 2016

Mapping the Migration of Gesture will be a performance installation series designed by Milwaukee-based choreographer, Maria Gillespie and Los Angeles-based collaborators Nguyễn Nguyên and Erik Speth.  These performances will experiment with movement, sound, and new media as forum to investigate the slippage between the material and the ephemeral. Mapping Migrations stems from a long-term project, Translating Metaphor Through Embodiment that Gillespie began as a UWM Global Studies Fellow dedicated to understanding how we make meaning through the synthesis of verbal and embodied languages. In this series, she narrows in on the reciprocal nature of the body and environment within interdisciplinary practices and new media collaborations.
