There's You & There's Me (2013-Present)
This evening length duet investigated the relationships between authoring and being authored. Questioning how we write our own identity and what narratives are imposed, the performance engages layers of dialogue between movement, performers, audience, text, and lots of pencils. There’s You & There’s Me is the final manifestation of a year-long collaboration between Schuchart and Rodero, the artists and music of Victoire (NYC) with the added contributions of dramaturge and lighting-designer, Jan Kellogg, of Los Angeles, CA. The concert premiered in May 2013 and was recently presented by Bare Bait Dance Company in Missoula, MT.
Carried Away (2015)
Wild Space Dance Company, Artistic Director Debra Loewen
In collaboration with Duo d'Entre-Duex
Performed at Roulette (NYC)
Duetted showcased new works and greatest hits by Rodero/Schuchart to celebrate and reflect on ten years of working together. Long time friend, mentor, and collaborator, Debra Loewen, staged Some Years After, an intensely heated duet about love, life, choice, and regret, and Suniti Dernovsek reset the tense duet This Is How We Disappear. Then they let out some hot air in Susan Marshall’s Sound, the gorgeous and audibly captivating duet from the 2006 evening-length concert Cloudless.
Connected is a new solo project by Schuchart that distorts the traditional audience-performer boundaries as the dance emerges and dissolves with the help of those in attendance. Using text, movement, improvised structures, and interactive tasks, Connected investigates how community is created and creative as the audience is engaged to both complete and engulf the performance. Schuchart leads a spiraling ride into the act of making that is joyful, raucous, and emotionally charged.
